In the hamlet, placed on the list of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy”, we will walk in the characteristic “Donkeys Alley”, strongly linked to the local history: it is an elevated and covered street, illuminated by different arches, which from an ancient defensive bastion has become a shelter for donkeys carrying gypsum from the caves in the surroundings.

Walking through its alleyways and stairs sculpted in gypsum, we will see the exterior of the Town Hall and we will enter in the 17^thcentury Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo to admire a wonderful painting of Palmezzano representing the Adoration of the Magi.

From the center of the village are also visible on the hills that dominate the landscape, the Manfredian and Venetian Fortress, a powerful example of medieval military art, and the crenellated Clock Tower.

To end the visit we move from the historical center to reach the Romanesque Pieve del Thò: built between VIII and X century, it is the oldest parish church of the River Lamone valley and it is a true architectural gem worthy of a careful visit.

To know the precious gourmet products of Brisighella we can stop at an olive oil mill and have a small tasting of Extra Virgin Olive Oil DOP “Brisighello” (not included in the visit): this oil, which is pleasantly spicy and bitter, is obtained from the variety of “Nostrana di Brisighella” olives present only in these hills and harvested by hand between November and December.
